Roof, gutters and exterior

NYC Brownstone maintains roofs, gutters and exterior surfaces for single-family brownstones and townhouses across New York City. We clear drains and debris, inspect roofs and façades and care for entries, while NYC Brownstone General Contracting handles leaks, waterproofing, ironwork, sidewalk and stoop repairs.
A collage of cut-out photographs of a brownstone's exterior on pale paper: a carved cornice with a copper gutter full of autumn leaves, a roof drain, a copper downspout, a window with a carved lintel and a caulked wooden sill.

Leaves can block gutters, leaders and roof drains, and winter ice can clog downspouts. Spring roof checks look for warping, aging, moss and cracking, while façade checks look for cracking brownstone, spalling brick and loose stone.

The agreement puts clearing, cleaning and seasonal inspections on the house checklist. NYC Brownstone General Contracting traces and repairs roof leaks and handles replacement, waterproofing, ironwork, sidewalk and stoop work.

A job like this

A failed roof membrane replaced in five days

The wrong membrane had been laid over the asphalt roof and never adhered. It was removed, and a new roof was completed in five days.

How often should a brownstone be serviced?

Monthly visits keep preventive work on schedule and let the same lead technician notice changes in the house. They also put seasonal work at the right time of year, including heating service before cold weather and cooling service before hot weather.

Do you provide general contracting as well as HVAC?

Yes. NYC Brownstone handles maintenance and has in-house HVAC and mechanical expertise. Repairs, installations and renovations are handled with NYC Brownstone General Contracting, a separately insured affiliated company run by the same family.

What is the warranty on parts and labor?

Coverage depends on the equipment, manufacturer, part and scope of work. Before a job is approved, we explain the applicable parts and labor coverage for that work.
